Project description

As part of Cardinia Shire’s 2025-26 Playground Renewals program, the Greenland Court Reserve playground has been upgraded to create a safer, more welcoming and more accessible play space, where all children can connect, explore and enjoy. 

The project has refreshed ageing infrastructure to ensure this valued community space continues to be well maintained and support the Garfield community for years to come. 

Upgrades and changes included: 

• A new nature play area with balance and stepping features 
• Double swing set with basket seat and rubber surfacing 
• Combination play unit with slides, raised platforms, climbing features and interactive panels 
• Flying fox 
• Double seesaw 
• Monkey bars 
• Renewal the existing BMX track 
• Shelter with picnic table and benches 
• Drainage improvements 
• New concrete and sand path connections 
• Landscaping and installation of new seating, bins, bike racks and other furniture 

Community engagement  

Thank you to everyone who participated in the consultation for the new play space design at Greenland Court Reserve, Garfield. 

In August 2024, we sought your input on what you would like to see in the new play space.  

In mid-2025, 3 concept designs were developed from this feedback, and the community were encouraged to provide further feedback and vote on their favourite design. 

The final design was shaped by community feedback and plans were finalised at the end of 2025. 

We would like to thank the community for their valuable input and feedback throughout this process, as it helped us design a play space that feels welcoming, inclusive and is reflective of how local families want to use the reserve for years to come.

This project was jointly funded by Council and the Victorian Government’s Tiny Towns Fund ($50,000)   

Progress update

Renewal works are now complete on the Greenland Court Reserve playground in Garfield. 

Renaming Greenland Court Reserve

As part of Council’s place‑making and reserve planning processes, residents are invited to have their say on the proposed renaming of Greendland Court Reserve.

The proposed name is a tribute to the late Lesley Harvey, a respected local volunteer who made significant contributions to the community during the 1990s.

To help ensure it reflects local history, identity and community connection, feedback will inform Council’s final decision on the reserve name.
