Project description

Council is working to identify the root cause of a seawall defect on the southern side of Lakeside Lake near Cormorant Parade, Pakenham.

A defect was noted during a routine site inspection, which found a gap between the 25-year-old seawall and the footpath, stretching approximately 32m along the seawall.

Council is working to rectify the defect as quickly as possible and has engaged Pitt & Sherry as the contractor to undertake these works on their behalf.

Council is completing initial investigations before completing design plans and proceeding to complete rectification works.

Funding

Council funded through Capital Works and the Bridge Renewal Program.

Progress update

Council completed minor maintenance and investigative works at Lakeside Lake in November 2024

Works included excavating 1m wide section of the footpath at two locations and collecting samples for soil testing.

These investigations will help to understand how to best rectify the issue moving forward and will inform further design plans.

Please note that further works will be scheduled in future to complete the rectification works and an update will be provided in time.
