Project description

During a routine inspection, a defect was reported the southern side seawall in Lakeside Lake near Cormorant Parade, Pakenham. 

A cracking was found along the ageing seawall and nearby footpath, and Council completed investigation works in 2024 to find the best way to rectify the issue. 

Design plans have now been finalised and construction is expected to start from mid-February 2026, dependent on contractor availability.  

Funding

Council funded through Capital Works and the Bridge Renewal Program.

Progress update

Rectification works are scheduled to start on the seawall at Lakeside Lake in Pakenham from 25 February 2026. 

Works will take place on the southern side of the lake near Cormorant Parade and aim to rectify cracking and erosion to the ageing wall and nearby footpath. 

Works will include: 

• removing and replacing 51m of 2.8m-wide exposed aggregate footpath 
• reinforcing seawall and retaining wall by new beams and supports 

Council has engaged Uniscape Pty Ltd as the contractor to complete rectification works on its behalf. 

Construction is expected to be completed by mid-March 2026, conditions permitting. 

Disruptions 

• A section of the footpath will be closed to the public during these works. 

• A pedestrian detour will be available along Cormorant Parade. 

• Additional noise and dust may be temporarily experienced in the area. 

Previous updates 

Council completed minor maintenance and investigative works at Lakeside Lake in November 2024.
