As part of the Victorian Government’s Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP):

Project description

Level crossing removals – Pakenham

McGregor Road, Main Street and Racecourse Road

New Pakenham and East Pakenham stations

Designs have been released for the brand-new Pakenham and East Pakenham stations, being built as part of the fast-tracked project to remove the 3 level crossings in Pakenham. You can view the designs on Victoria’s Big Build website

More info on LXRP website: new Pakenham station and future Pakenham East station

The existing metropolitan line is also being extended by about 2 kilometres. The works will allow more services to be added to the Pakenham and Gippsland lines in the future.

Level crossing removals – Beaconsfield

LXRP is building a new road bridge over the rail line at Brunt Road and Station Street in Beaconsfield. The 2 level crossings in Beaconsfield will be removed by constructing new road bridges over the rail line. Designs have been released for these new bridges. You can view these designs on Victoria’s Big Build website

Early works are underway at Brunt Road, Beaconsfield and construction will be completed by 2025.

Site investigations are underway at Station Street, Beaconsfield and construction will be completed by 2025.

Level crossing closure – Officer

LXRP will close Station Street in Officer at the rail crossing. This will remove the crossing from the road network.

Alternative road access will be provided by the existing Brunt Road and Siding Avenue, and the future north/south connection from Officer South Road to Bayview Road.

Early site investigations are underway, with the project to be completed in 2025.
