Project description
Level crossing removals – Beaconsfield
The Victorian Government has removed the level crossing at Brunt Road, Beaconsfield with a new road bridge over the rail line.
The Brunt Road level crossing was removed in April 2024, one year ahead of schedule. The new Brunt Road bridge has improved safety and reduced congestion for local residents. Residents can now move more easily and safely underneath the new bridge, with improved pedestrian access through the new shared user path connecting Kenilworth Avenue to Elizabeth Parkway (on the opposite side of the road) for the very first time. This also enables more trains to run more often on the Pakenham line.
The local area has been enhanced with over 100 trees and 50,000 plants, shrubs and grasses planted around the Brunt Road bridge and new shared user path.
Temporary lighting will remain in place along the Brunt Road shared use path to ensure safe access for all pedestrians until permanent lighting is commissioned mid-2025.
