Project description
As part of the Australian Government’s 2024-25 Black Spot program, Moody Street and Gardner Street, Koo Wee Rup will be upgraded.
Works will include:
- Installation of raised safety platforms
- Drainage
- Lighting
- Improved delineation
Line marking
This intersection is currently controlled by give-way signs and is now being upgraded due to a history of crashes recorded over the past 5 years.
Council will install several raised safety platforms around the intersection to help slow and manage traffic in the area. The proposed treatment will improve safety for general traffic and pedestrians crossing the road and decrease the likelihood of serve crashes occurring.
Funding
Works are fully funded by the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program.
Progress update
Council welcomed the announcement of funding from the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program in August 2024.
Works are expected to start in April 2025 and will be completed before June 2025, conditions permitting.
