Project description

As part of the Australian Government’s 2024-25 Black Spot program, Moody Street and Gardner Street, Koo Wee Rup will be upgraded.

Works will include:

  • Installation of raised safety platforms
  • Drainage
  • Lighting
  • Improved delineation
  • Line marking

This intersection is currently controlled by give-way signs and is now being upgraded due to a history of crashes recorded over the past 5 years.

Council will install two raised safety platforms on the minor approaches to the intersection to help slow the speed of traffic entering.

The proposed treatment will improve safety for general traffic and pedestrians crossing the road and decrease the likelihood of severe crashes occurring.

Funding

Upgrades are fully funded through the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program.

Progress update

  • Lighting works have already been completed
  • Civil construction is expected to start by late 2026.
