Project description

To help improve pedestrian safety and access to public transport, a new shared-use path will be constructed along Officer South Road, Officer from Hickson Rd and connect into the Officer Station carpark.

Works will include:

  • A 2.5m wide shared use path from Hickson Road and finishing opposite the Officer Station carpark entrance
  • Line marking and signage to the new shared-use path

The shared use path upgrades will help support the future delivery of the Officer South Rd bridge and ultimate cross section outlined in the Officer Precinct Structure Plan, which will see this road reconnect into Princes Highway.

Please note that these additional upgrades will be pending future design plans, approvals and funding allocations.

Funding

This project is funded by the Victorian Government’s Level Crossing Removal Project.

Progress update

Council is scheduled to start construction on a new shared-use path along Officer South Road in Officer from mid-May 2025.

Works are expected to be completed by end of June 2025, conditions permitting.

Disruptions

  • Road to remain open and accessible throughout works, however no through road still remains unchanged at level crossing.
  • No pedestrian access available along Officer South Rd passed Hickson Rd, as crews are constructing the new shared use path
  • Traffic management will be in place and minor delays expected.
