Council completed the Garfield Netball Pavilion upgrade in June 2024 to enhance the functionality, accessibility, and long-term sustainability of the pavilion.  

 

The netball pavilion is located at the Garfield Recreation Reserve alongside netball courts, ovals, tennis courts, bowls, a skate park, an outdoor pool, a community garden, a community centre/hall, an off-leash dog park, an outdoor exercise station and a playground. 

 

Cardinia Shire Council is committed to improving local facilities to keep residents active and moving. Council identified the need for the netball pavilion upgrade in the Garfield Recreation Reserve Master Plan (2015). 

Project description

The new pavilion includes:

  • Changerooms with operable wall/roller door
  • Unisex amenities
  • Strapping/Massage rooms
  • Unisex accessible change room with amenities
  • Umpires change with amenities and operable wall
  • First aid room
  • Public toilets female external access
  • Public toilets male external access
  • Unisex accessible toilet external access
  • External viewing area
  • Meeting/Office room
  • Canteen/Kitchen
  • Cleaners store
  • Utility service area
  • Internal storage
  • External storage

Funding

The Garfield Netball Pavilion was upgraded by Cardinia Shire Council ($2.3m) in partnership with the Victorian Government ($800k). 

Progress update

The Garfield Netball Pavilion upgrade was completed in June 2024 and officially opened in August 2024.
