The Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road upgrade was delivered by the Victorian Government as part of Victoria’s Big Build.
Project description
The Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road major upgrade is now complete, 18 months ahead of schedule.
The project forms part of the broader Australian and Victorian Government’s Pakenham Roads Upgrade, which aims to improve travel time, assist traffic flow by removing bottlenecks and reduce congestion in and around Pakenham.
The upgrade of Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road has delivered:
- an extra lane in each direction between Princes Freeway and Manks Road
- new traffic lights at Greenhills Road
- a new road bridge over Deep Creek near the water recycling plant
- new roundabouts at Hall Road, south of Deep Creek and Ballarto Road
- 10km of shared walking and cycling path
- safety barriers along the road
These changes will reduce the risk of crashes and make it safer for all road users, including large vehicles accessing local businesses and residents and locals accessing their homes and businesses.
Funding
The $415.7 million Pakenham Roads Upgrade is fully funded by the Australian Government, and is being delivered by Major Road Projects Victoria.
Simultaneously, the Victorian Government upgraded Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road as part of the Big Build Roads Suburban Roads Upgrade package, to ensure the seamless transformation of key major routes across the Pakenham area.
