Construction has completed and the early years facility at the Toun-nun Child and Family Centre on Fairweather Parade in Officer has officially opened.
The exciting project received funding from Victorian Government through the Victorian School Building Authority’s Building Blocks Capacity Grant Program, and from the Jobs, Precincts and Region’s Growing Suburbs Fund. The build also received developer contributions.
The facility was named ‘Toun-nun’, meaning ‘warm’, following consultation with the local community, historical groups, and the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation.
Project description
Toun-nun Child and Family Centre, formerly Brunt Road Integrated Child and Family Centre, includes:
- three kindergarten program rooms
- a community room that is future-proofed as an additional kinder room
- three consult rooms to cater for Maternal and Child Health and other allied health professionals
- a staff room with kitchen space and planning room
- an outdoor play space
- shared common area/waiting lounge
- many more amenities, equipment, furniture and carparking.
The project also involved the development of public artwork reflecting the diverse natural and built environments of Cardinia Shire, funded by Council.
Funding
The project is jointly funded by Developer Contributions and the Victorian State Government (DET- Building Blocks grant and DJPR- Growing Suburbs Fund).

Operational from the start of Term 2 2024, Toun-nun Child and Family Centre was officially opened in August 2024.
