The Princes Highway Intersections project will transform local roads to cope with future growth and to improve travel for generations to come.
This key infrastructure project will provide safer travel for all road users, while improving connectivity and access along this vital growth corridor. These intersection upgrades are expected to reduce congestion and improve travel time reliability along this corridor.

Project description
The Brunt Road, Whiteside Road and Princes Highway intersection is an existing fully signalised intersection. The upgrade works will increase the capacity of the intersection to handle the increased traffic volumes coming from the neighbouring developments.
The intersection upgrade will include:
- duel right-turn lanes into and exiting both Brunt Rd and Whiteside Rd
- a westbound bus priority lane
- cyclist and pedestrian paths
The upgrade works will increase the capacity of the intersection to handle the increased traffic volumes in this vital growth corridor.
Funding
Council is currently advocating for state and federal funding to see this intersection upgraded, and future works are pending the outcome of external funding applications.
Designs for the intersections are funded through developer contributions.
Until such time additional funding becomes available, construction of these intersections will not be able to proceed.

Department of Transport and Planning is currently reviewing detailed design.
Service authorities have been engaged and relocation plans are being finalised.
Please note that Council has not started works on the Brunt Rd and Whiteside Rd project, and that external agencies and developers are currently completing separate works around Brunt Road, Beaconsfield.
